The links that I have shown below are to a powerful piece that I highly recommend to all open minded free thinkers. It is certainly salutary reading for all those that have bought into the mainstream political debate. It makes no difference whether that is from a left or a right perspective but, unfortunately, the left are now even more of a sucker for the ubiquitous mainstream media propaganda than the right is it seems. His article calls such people the "compatible left" a CIA term from the 1950's. They choose to live in what Sartre called "bad faith". This is also true of the majority of the mainstream right as well of course.
These facts have been obvious to me for some time but this piece is forensic in its analysis. So be warned, it may be a tad uncomfortable for you at times if you are of a left persuasion. It certainly will be uncomfortable if you think that voting for the Labour Party or the Democrats will make any difference to the fundamental issues that he demonstrates here.....

Take your pick, the piece is at both the, nominally "right", Unz Review and the, nominally "left", OffGuardian.
Fortunately both of these alternative media are far too savvy to be caught up in the right/left psyop. They both tend to value the search for truth far more than mere political persuasion and it's attendant propaganda....

I would add the BBC to that list for sure and pretty well every other European mainstream media outlet as well, I can't think of one exception.
I could add many more examples to his long list of media lies too. One of the most obvious, one that should have demonstrated his thesis to everyone with half a brain, was the recent Skripal affair here in the UK. How anyone could look at that in any detail and still think that the main media is "independent" and "free", that it is not fully controlled by the bad guys, is completely beyond me. Skripal ripped the curtain to shreds and revealed the lack of clothes of all the western media. The media who simply pumped out all the intelligence service stories (lies) verbatim and in unison, without any objective thought, without any actual journalism being involved. Despite those stories being utterly illogical, self demonstrated as false and therefore clearly fabricated, and so obviously lies. Craig Murray laid it all on a plate for interested observers, QED.
But nothing changed, "conspiracy theorists" like me already knew all of this about the controlled mainstream media, but hardly anyone else seemed to even notice. They just carried on as if nothing had happened, still believing the constant daily spew of other lies that the media issues about almost everything, seemingly oblivious. It was utterly depressing and it showed to me just how wilfully ignorant the public can be. The sections in his piece about "Jacques Ellul on Propaganda" and "Culpable Ignorance" explain the clever psychology that is behind such willful ignorance.

As the article says then "Conspiracy Theorist" is a term that has been clearly demonstrated to have been coined by the CIA in the 1960's. The CIA admit this too. So isn't it ironic how the modern public have now been so fully brainwashed that they use a CIA phrase to insult, and thus express their lack of comfort with, those who are trying to find the truth!
Use of the phrase without inverted commas, whether verbal or written, signifies acceptance of, and adherence to, the lying, fascist, corporate, western Establishment! To my mind, a persons use of the term, particularly from a left intellectual who deep in their heart knows better, demonstrates a social version of the legal term, willful blindness.
They choose ignorance over truth reminding me of Orwell once again
